Overview:
Brain Health Now is a grassroots organization dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding the term “mental illness”. Over 50 million Americans have diagnosable brain health disorders each year. These disorders remain shrouded in misunderstanding and stigma; This is particularly prevalent for survivors of domestic violence as they are often told they are crazy and/or mentally ill.

Event Objectives:

• Pervasiveness of brain health issues for survivors of intimate partner violence

• Importance of language being used on the topic of brain health due to the neurological and basis of brain health issues

• Provide insight of the impact of the stigma surrounding mental illness and why we need to address it as an organ that has been impacted by domestic violence.Brain Health Presentation: Debi Butler & Claira Kapraun – www.brainhealth-now.org
