Lisa Smith, LMSW
Licensed Clinician
My name is Lisa! My goal as a therapist is to help empower you to make the changes you would like to see in your life. This will involve a lot of me listening and helping you to reflect and better understand your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We will develop a plan together to help identify your current individual and systemic needs and build whatever skills are needed for you to meet your therapy goals.
I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment for each of my clients. This supports our therapeutic relationship for me to support you to the best of my ability. My perspective is that everyone is an expert on their own experiences and feelings. Because of this, our work together will be client-led. What this means is that although I may have suggestions or ideas for you to think about, ultimately, you get to decide what we work on alongside my guidance. I have the tools to support you and help you gain control of the mental health symptoms you may be experiencing.
I am currently a Licensed Social Worker at Children & Families of Iowa-Cornerstone Counseling Center. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Iowa State University and received my master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa. I frequently utilize attachment theories and view each client through a trauma-informed lens. I’m excited to meet you and get to know your story!
