Kristen Eekhoff, LISW

Licensed Clinician

My name is Kristen Eekhoff, and I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker. My work at Children & Families of Iowa includes the support and collaboration from our behavioral health team members. I have experience in working with a wide range of ages. My concentration is on adults in individual, family, and couple sessions. My work focuses on helping people with childhood and adult relationship trauma, addictive behaviors, and relationship issues. Other focus areas include grief and loss, chronic pain and physical health, depression and anxiety, and chronic brain health. I have a wide range of knowledge on the impact of trauma on the emotional and physical health of my clients.

My therapeutic approach is eclectic and flexible. This approach draws on multiple techniques, allowing me to address each client’s needs. Honoring the importance of a trusting therapeutic relationship, I develop an understanding of the problem from my client’s point of view and see my client as part of the larger environment. There are times in life when everything is running smoothly, and then suddenly, it comes to a stop. My goal in helping families and individuals is to restore hope and a sense of empowerment that allows them to reach their goals.
