Adoptive Services

Children & Families of Iowa has been helping children find loving families through the miracle of adoption since 1888. The organization is committed to creating safe, permanent connections between children and caring families. Part of this commitment is to provide domestic and international adoption home study services.

CFI is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) to provide adoption services, including home studies and post-placement/post-adoption support.

Hague Adoptions

Families adopting from a country that is a signatory to the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoptions must work directly with an accredited primary provider to identify and place an adopted child.

Children & Families of Iowa collaborates with accredited primary providers as an Exempted Provider of home studies and post-placement/post-adoption reporting and support services. Our staff works closely with primary providers to ensure all home studies and post-placement/post-adoption services are conducted in compliance with all relevant Hague regulations.

Hague regulations are a result of the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoptions, which provides a framework for member countries to work together to ensure that children are provided with permanent, loving homes, that adoptions take place in the best interests of a child, and that the abduction, sale or traffic in children is prevented. Hague regulations establish uniform requirements and ensure sound ethical practices to protect children, birth parents, and adoptive parents.

Council On Accreditation

Council on Accreditation (COA) ensures that CFI adoption services support ethical practices for all adoptions – both domestic and international (Hague and non-Hague countries) and continue to provide a range of adoption services with only the children’s best interests in mind.
