Beauty Brands Relaunches “End Abuse” Program to Raise Funds and Awareness for Children & Families of Iowa’s Domestic Violence Shelter

Des Moines, IA (October 9, 2019) – Most salon professionals know that they will cut and color hair and offer advice on beauty and styling products.  But some find their job also includes lending a listening ear to victims of domestic violence.  Studies show that three out of four abused women tell someone about the abuse, and salons and spas may serve as “safe” places because abusers usually do not accompany victims to their appointments.

In recognition of these relationships Beauty Brands is relaunching their End Abuse Campaign to raise awareness, from September 30 to November 3, 2019, and funding for End Abuse. End Abuse is a program that provides support to local domestic violence shelters.

Beauty Brands will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of every Redken Guts 10 volume-boosting spray foam to 13 domestic violence shelters in the local markets it serves.  During the End Abuse campaign, the popular Redken Guts product will be sold for the special price of $8.98 (regular retail is $19.49).  Beauty Brands customers also will have the opportunity to add a donation to their total purchase to directly support a local shelter.

“Women often establish a trusting relationship with their stylists and salon professionals.  They spend a lot of one-on-one time talking and sometimes confiding very personal matters,” said Leah LaSala, Education & Development Director for Beauty Brands.

The End Abuse program was started by the company’s founder Bob Bernstein and the company’s CEO, David Bernstein in 2001, to help end domestic violence through funding and awareness. Since its inception, the Beauty Brands End Abuse program has raised more than $1,000,000 and benefited more than 50 domestic violence shelters nationwide.

“Beauty Brands’ mission is to make people feel good about themselves and increase their self-esteem in a safe environment.  Domestic violence destroys that,” said David Bernstein, CEO of Beauty Brands.  “This is one way that our customers and our salon & spa professionals can get involved to directly impact the prevention and elimination of abuse. We are proud to re-ignite this program that is near to our hearts and to help support our local community shelters.”
