Children & Families of Iowa Received Story County Community Foundation Grant

November 26, 2018, Des Moines, Iowa

Stacey Haskins, (left), Grant Specialist, Children & Families of Iowa received a community grant for $1,820 from Audrey Kennis, Story County Community Foundation Advisory Board Secretary, during a November 8 ceremony in Ames.

Kennis said that the grant will be used to fund the purchase of SafeCare program training materials for staff who serve Story County. SafeCare is an evidence-based curriculum used by in-home counselors in CFI’s Family Safety, risk, and Permanency (FSRP) program. These items are recommended, but not funded under CFI’s contract with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide FSRP services. These items will help staff serve families more effectively and as a result, keep children safe.

SCCF received a total of 44 applications for 2018 community grants. Children & Families of Iowa was one of 17 applicants selected for the awards. Funding for the community grants is provided by the State of Iowa’s County Endowment Fund Program and local donors.  SCCF is the designated administrator for the fund.
