Employment for victims of domestic violence focus of Verizon Foundation grant to Children & Families of Iowa
November 26, 2018, Des Moines, Iowa – A grant awarded to Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) by the Verizon Foundation will provide victims of domestic violence with services and resources necessary to help them overcome the economic insecurity that is often imposed on them by their abusers by helping them gain employment.
“Financial stability is vitally important for those seeking refuge from abuse,” said Amy Stapp-Arpy, CDO/ VP of Development and Communications at CFI. “The support from Verizon will make it possible for CFI to continue to help domestic violence victims rebuild their lives.”
Verizon’s $5,000 grant will assist in providing services such as pre-employment assessments, financial literacy workshops, computer skills classes, résumé writing, career exploration, and interview preparation. CFI utilizes these services combined with a one-on-one approach to help victims achieve financial sustainability.
