July 24, 2015, Des Moines, IA – Every year thousands of families across the state face crises and some of life’s most difficult situations. Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) has been helping many of these families overcome challenges and is celebrating 50 years of restoring hope, building futures and changing lives in the Fort Dodge area.
The public is invited to help celebrate the office’s 50th anniversary on Saturday, August 15 at CFI’s Fort Dodge Office (111 Ave. O West). This family-friendly event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and offers free food and games including a bounce house, mini golf, face painting and bag games, to name a few.
CFI began in 1888 as a small adoption agency and has grown to a statewide human service organization with physical offices in five communities, including Fort Dodge. Services in Fort Dodge and surrounding communities include: Mental Health Services, Telehealth psychiatric care; crisis services; Behavioral Health Intervention Services; parent education and support groups; Pediatric Integrated Health Home; and Youth Employment Program for youth that include mentoring and development of educational/vocational skills.
“This event is a great way to thank the public for their continuous support over the last five decades. We hope people will bring their families out to help us celebrate this milestone,” says Janice Lane, CFI CEO. “CFI has tremendous donors and volunteers who help change lives every day.”
