Des Moines, Iowa – Dr. Gloria Gray has announced her retirement as CEO of Children & Families of Iowa (CFI), effective February 27, 2015.

For the last 14 years CFI has been under the leadership of Gray, who has overseen many programs that help Iowa’s at-risk children and families. Under her leadership, CFI has experienced growth in the number of clients served, established and continued accreditation from the Council on Accreditation – an independent nonprofit child and family service accrediting organization, and completion of several capital campaigns, the most recent to make major structural improvements to CFI facilities in the Des Moines area.

Gray’s career totaled 44 years in the human services industry. Earlier in her career, Gray spent 13 years with CFI, ending in 1988. She went on to work for other organizations in Kansas City and Oklahoma City before returning to CFI.

“I have truly enjoyed working with Children & Families of Iowa’s dedicated board members and caring staff, with years of expertise in human services, over the last decade. I now look forward to spending more time improving my golf game, volunteering for the FreeStore – a long-time partner of CFI, winning more ribbons at the Iowa State Fair and spending more time with family and friends,” says Dr. Gloria Gray.

A CEO Selection Committee comprised of representatives from CFI’s Board of Directors and Foundation Board of Trustees has been created to ensure that the organization uses a fair and appropriate process in filling this very important leadership position.
