Des Moines, Iowa – The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation (ORLF) recently awarded Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) $30,000 to support family support services in the Ottumwa office.
Funds will support critical services offered, including programs aimed at parent mentoring, camp for youth at-risk of substance abuse, Substance Abuse Task Force Teen Advisory Committee, 24/7 Dads, Southern Iowa Mental Health Center Parent Child Interaction Therapy and strategic planning. These services are part of a collaboration convened by CFI, including The Children’s Alliance (Council for Prevention of Child Abuse in Wapello County), Drug Endangered Children, the Substance Abuse Task Force and Community Partnership for the Protection of Children (CPPC). The collaboration, known as Community Partnership for Protecting Children, has a vision that “every child, beginning at birth, will be healthy, safe and reach their full potential. Families are able to provide a healthy, safe, supportive environment for their children.”
“We applaud the partnering organizations of Children & Families of Iowa not only for the essential services they provide to our community each and every day but for their commitment to work together for the betterment of the clients they serve,” stated Kelly Genners, Director of Community Leadership and Grant-making for the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation. “The generous contribution from ttumwa Regional Legacy Foundation will allow CFI to offer services critical to the community and align with the vision of the collaboration,” says Gloria Gray, Children & Families of Iowa’s Executive Director.
