Des Moines, Iowa – The S.L. Gimbel Foundation recently awarded a grant in the amount of $25,000 to Children & Families of Iowa (CFI).
This grant will help CFI provide mental health services to low-income women and children in rural areas of Iowa. Services include Telehealth, the use of live two-way video conferencing for psychiatric services. Individuals who live in rural areas can drive to the nearest CFI office for treatment, rather than make the long trip to CFI’s main office in Des Moines for a short visit. Specifically, funds will help provide psychiatric services, therapist salaries and one-time emergency needs such as utility or rent payments, food, diapers, or transportation costs.
“Thanks to The S.L. Gimbel Foundation grant, women and children who truly need our services will now have access to therapy and psychiatric treatment they might not otherwise be able to afford,” says CFI’s Chief Development Officer/VP of Development and Communications Amy Stapp-Arpy. “CFI expects to serve 995 individuals with funds from this grant.”
The mission of S.L. Gimbel Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for people and animals by providing effective support in the Founder’s specific fields of interest. The Foundation is managed by the Community Foundation serving Riverside and San Bernadino Counties in California.
