Des Moines, Iowa – The Nationwide Insurance Foundation continues to provide financial support to a critical program that helps victims of domestic violence.
Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) recently received a grant from Nationwide Insurance Foundation for $65,000 to help support their Domestic Violence Services. CFI operates the largest domestic violence shelter in Iowa, and the only one in Polk County. CFI also administers the statewide and local crisis hotlines, provides medical and court advocacy to victims, assists with employment resources, affordable housing, and offers support groups for clients and the community.
“The Nationwide Insurance Foundation is proud to support CFI and the work they do to provide support for domestic abuse victims,” said Chad Jester, President, Nationwide Insurance Foundation. “Nationwide is more than a business. We support our members, associates and the communities where they live and work.”
Nationwide Insurance Foundation’s gift will support these efforts and allow CFI to continue providing services to domestic violence victims in a time of need. “We appreciate Nationwide Foundation’s ongoing support of our program,” says CFI Executive Director Gloria Gray. “This program helped more than 5,000 individuals last year alone. For victims of domestic violence, home is not a safe place, but rather a place filled with fear and anxiety. Our goal is to help victims become independent and lead a life free from violence as survivors.”
With CFI’s shelter running at capacity and many calls continuing to come in through the hotlines, the need for CFI’s Domestic Violence Services is critical. With the support of the community and organizations such as Nationwide leading the way, CFI will be able to continue to help at-risk Iowans, making the community a better place to live.
