Des Moines, Iowa – The Liberty Mutual Foundation presented Children & Families of Iowa with a gift of $10,000 on Wednesday, June 20, at their local branch office in West Des Moines, Iowa.

The gift was presented as part of the activities scheduled in celebration of Liberty Mutual Insurance’s 100th anniversary. This gift is part of $1 million that will be distributed to various non-profit organizations in commemoration of this landmark event. Liberty Mutual created the “100 Gifts” program as a way to honor the company’s long-standing tradition of supporting communities in the United States and around the world in which their employees live and work.

“Liberty Mutual’s 100 Gifts grants are being awarded to 80 US and 20 international nonprofit organizations based on their connections with local Liberty Mutual offices and employees,” says Jeff Szalacinski, Regional Vice-President for Indiana Insurance, a Liberty Mutual company. “Liberty Mutual has a long tradition of supporting the communities in which its employees live and work, and the 100 Gifts program gives us the opportunity to say thank you to organizations that help those communities thrive.”

CFI’s five main program areas serve individuals and families across Iowa. Liberty Mutual’s generous gift will help to ensure that these programs continue to make a positive impact in our communities and a difference in the lives of those we serve.

  • Restoring Hope for Victims of Domestic Violence
CFI provides hope, healing and help for victims of domestic violence and works to create violence-free homes and communities.
  • Creating Safe Homes for Children
CFI helps create safe, permanent homes for abused and neglected children, and helps families in crisis stay together.
  • Helping Teens Find Brighter Futures
CFI offers second chances to teens when their painful pasts have left them nowhere else to turn.
  • Preparing Children to Succeed
CFI offers families affordable childcare options that give children a safe, supportive place to learn and grow.
  • Helping People Reshape Their Lives
CFI empowers individuals and families to make positive changes in their lives through mental health services.

“Charity selection was based largely upon employees’ ‘Give with Liberty’ pledges received during our most recent campaign,” says Mary Appleyard, Liberty Mutual Executive Assistant. “Our West Des Moines office has a number of supporters who feel strongly about the difference CFI makes in this community.”
