Des Moines, Iowa – Nationwide Insurance Foundation, an independent corporation funded by Nationwide Insurance Companies, has awarded a $65,000 grant to Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) to support the programming needs of its Domestic Violence Services. Funds will be used to support services to victims in crisis, as well as services that assist survivors.

“Nationwide is more than a business,” says Wendell Crosser, Allied Group Chief Financial Officer and a member of the CFI Board of Directors. “We are proud to partner with Children & Families of Iowa and to support the important human services it provides to the residents of Central Iowa.”

CFI’s Domestic Violence Services served 8,991 individuals last year. Programs include a range of services designed to provide the earliest intervention possible:

  • Statewide domestic violence hotline and local crisis lines answered 24/7
  • Medical crisis response staff are on call 24-hours a day and can travel to hospitals and clinics when domestic violence has occurred
  • Court advocates assist with civil protective orders and court appearances
  • Emergency shelter for victims and their children fleeing from domestic violence
  • Transitional housing, case management and group therapy to assist with the transition to independent living

“Nationwide is committed to meeting the needs of Central Iowans,” says Amy StappArpy, CFI Director of Development and Communications. “For more than a decade, Nationwide has generously partnered with Children & Families of Iowa to provide support and shelter for domestic violence survivors. Nationwide has also been a major contributor in support of our on-going Building Futures Capital Campaign. We are greatly humbled by their commitment to the community and we are grateful for their support.”
