Des Moines, Iowa – Children & Families of Iowa (CFI) is pleased to announce that Theisen’s Home Farm Auto stores have awarded a $4,000 grant to be used for the funding of Warren County Teen Resource Fairs and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
Theisen’s grant will ensure that Warren County high school students are provided with information about healthy relationships and lifestyles choices, as well as additional community resources for families about safety planning and behavior warning signs. A staff counselor will provide the information and answer teens’ questions about relationship patterns.
“Teenagers are under an enormous amount of pressure during the best of times,” states Catherine Reaman-Gerdes, CFI’s Domestic Violence Services Program Director. “When the symptoms of an abusive relationship or drug and alcohol abuse are added to the mix, kids often feel trapped. The resource fairs are designed to bring information, support and solutions directly to our communities’ teens.”
Through Theisen’s charitable fund and a partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, the “More For Your Community” program is granting more than $150,000 to jumpstart and/or sustain projects which most effectively serve the basic needs of families and children, including food, shelter, education, safety and health.
