In-kind donations of goods and services are essential for any organization like Children & Families of Iowa. Donating materials or services go toward the goal of making this community better. There are many ways to give in-kind donations to Children & Families of Iowa.
CFI’s clients always have a need for bus tokens, cab coupons, luggage, backpacks, tote bags, school supplies, baby formula, diapers and wipes, full-size toiletry items (shampoo, soap, deodorant, tooth paste), new personal care items (toothbrushes, hair brushes, combs, feminine hygiene products, etc.), and new socks and underwear of all sizes.
Holiday Giving Options
Adopt A Family
Each year, donors to the Foundation for Children & Families of Iowa’s (CFI) Adopt A Family program purchase gifts and items for families that receives CFI services. Many of these families are surviving on extremely limited incomes and struggle to afford even the most basic necessities. The holiday season can be particularly difficult for these families. Adopt A Family donors sign up in September and early October each year, and are given wish lists provided by the families in early November. Deliveries are scheduled for the gifts to be brought to CFI’s Main Service Center location at 1111 University Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa for the families to pick up prior to December 21, 2017.

Donate to CFI’s Toy Room
CFI clients not eligible for the of Adopt A Family program are able to utilize access to the toy room where parents and guardians can pick out gifts for their children. Most needed gifts include: toys and gift items for children ages 12-18 years of age, Barbie® dolls & playsets, infant and toddler toys, and sports equipment and apparel.
Donate to CFI’s Closet
CFI youth clients may also be eligible pick out a gift for their parents or guardians. Items needed include perfume, cologne, bath sets, fun gift items, books, DVDs, kitchen items, cookbooks, gift cards.
Organize an item drive
Invite your friends, family, co-workers, or customers to purchase items for clients served by one of CFI eligible programs which include Domestic Violence Shelter and Outreach, Child Development Center, Family Safety, Risk, and Permanency (FSRP) Services, and others. Drive examples include: personal care items, diapers and wipes, new twin size sheets and blankets, pillows and pillow cases, new women’s under garments (all sizes), Children’s socks/shoes and snow boots, non-perishable food, and paper products.
