Get Involved with Children & Families of Iowa

The success of many CFI programs and events relies on the participation of many caring and generous volunteers. Helping hands are always needed to help process in-kind donations, serve as mentors to at-risk teens and children, help at events, provide training to victims of domestic violence, serve on event sub-committees, and much more.

Steps to becoming a volunteer:

  1. Review the Volunteer Handbook.
  2. Complete and submit one of the Volunteer Applications (see below). Applications can be can be emailed to Children & Families of Iowa’s Volunteer Coordinator at or submitted to Children & Families of Iowa, Attention: Volunteer Coordinator, 1111 University Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50314.
  3. CFI’s volunteer coordinator will contact applicants to discuss opportunities and interests.

Volunteers with a particular talent, skill or interest they would like to share, or who would like to volunteer with a specific CFI program, should complete and submit the Individual Volunteer Application.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

CFI has opportunities for groups of all sizes. For any organization that is interested, please complete and submit the Group Volunteer Application.

Donation Drives

New clothing, household items and personal care products are always in need. Coordinating a donation drive with an office, church or club is a great way to support the mission of Children & Families of Iowa. View the Wish List for ideas.
