Foundation Grant Specialist



CFI seeks an experienced Grant Specialist to work under the general supervision of the CDO/VP of Development and Communications. This position is responsible for prospect research; compiling statistical data; managing the grant calendar; writing private grant applications; grant training and coordinator of grant workload distribution; building relationships with funding representatives and ensuring implementation and ensuring communication of restrictions and deadlines, reporting, proof reading, editing and compliance. This position is responsible for the completion of a minimum of 15 grant applications per month along with grant and administrative reports. This includes obtaining or exceeding the monetary goals set annually for corporate, foundations and community chests. This position is full time 37 hours/week,half days on most Fridays with occasional nights/weekends.

An example of Responsibilities:

  • Research and communicate various grant opportunities in order to identify funding sources. Includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Review literature dealing with funds available through grants from private foundations, corporations, civic groups, family foundation and community chests to determine compatibility with CFI programs.
  • Conduct interviews and draft correspondence to obtain detailed funding information.
  • Provide assistance in researching assigned topics and gathering statistical information related to trends or occurrences.
  • Outline funding requirements and explain procedures necessary for funding attainment
  • Write, prepare and coordinate grant application processes in order to comply with required formats of RFP and Foundation policy: this includes working with the accounting department in preparing budgets; ensuring all grant deadlines are met; and cultivating representatives of funding sources.
  • Responsible for attaining grant revenue goals on an annual basis.

Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS degree in related field with 3-5 years experience in grant writing, research, reporting, evaluation and processing management required. Basic knowledge of statistics and statistical applications. Experience with computer systems, ability to understand and operate various related software necessary to carry out job functions. Must be willing and able to work some nights and weekends.
