Outpatient Mental Health Therapist

CFI seeks a full time Therapist for our Trauma-Informed Outpatient Mental Health Program in Ankeny and Des Moines Iowa to join a dedicated and hard working team, passionate about giving hope to central Iowa’s children & families.




Children and Families of Iowa is accepting applications for a full-time mental health therapist (ie: LMSW, LISW, LMHC, LMFT etc.) to provide professional therapy services in our Trauma-Informed Outpatient Mental Health Programs in the following office locations: Ankeny, Des Moines, and Osceola, Iowa. The community of Osceola, Iowa is located only 30 minutes south of West Des Moines.

Responsibilities include: This position is responsible for providing trauma informed outpatient mental health counseling/therapy services to patients of all ages, to include: clinical assessment and diagnosis, development of treatment plans, individual, family, couples, and/or group therapy, ordering behavioral health intervention services (when indicated) and, assisting with referrals to behavioral health intervention providers (if requested), and maintaining appropriate documentation. Applies advanced psychosocial theory and methods to individuals as well as families and groups with appropriate regard for the complexity of given problems.

Requirements for the position include: current Iowa license to practice therapy/counseling and a minimum of a Master’s degree in social work, counseling or closely related field. 2 years of experience working in a mental health setting preferred.
